Employees give and charities win
Regence employees truly care about supporting and enhancing the health of the communities where they live. It’s inherent in the work that we do each day in service to our members and our communities, and it’s a hallmark of how we’ve done business for more than 70 years.
Knowing we place a high value on enhancing the health of the communities we serve, it’s probably not surprising Regence has a strong culture of philanthropy. In addition to our community investment programs that provide game-changing support for nonprofits, including volunteer support and funding, all employees rally for the causes they care about during our annual Employee Giving Campaign.
For two weeks every fall, Regence employees have an opportunity to donate funds to support their favorite charities – and the company (through our corporate Foundation) matches all gifts at 50 percent.
And, employees don’t hesitate to give. In fact, 62 percent of Regence employees stepped up and gave more than $1.4 million to support more than 1,800 nationwide nonprofits during this year’s campaign. With the Foundation match, that means our total campaign investment will be more than $2.1 million! [P.S. We hear this is twice the national average of giving for companies our size.]
Because our employees are able to donate to causes they personally care about, a wide variety of organizations benefit from the campaign. While health and human services always top the list, here’s just a sampling of where Regence employees gave in the 2014 campaign:
Idaho: Community Action Agency, Idaho Foodbank, Lewis-Clark Animal Shelter, Boys & Girls Clubs, Ronald McDonald House Charities, The Willow Center, Jackson’s Pay It Forward Foundation, CASA, and Lewiston Civic Theatre.
Utah: Utah Food Bank, Best Friends Animal Society, Huntsman Cancer Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Road Home, YWCA of Salt Lake City, University of Utah, Learning Center for Families, Murray Greenhouse Foundation and the Hale Centre Theatre.
Washington: Food Lifeline, Treehouse, World Vision, KUOW Public Radio, Senior Services, Women’s Funding Alliance, University of Washington Foundation, Artsfund, Boys & Girls Clubs, and Humane Society for Seattle-King County.
