Community Action Partnership celebrates Community Partnership with Regence BlueShield of Idaho
LEWISTON, ID - Regence BlueShield of Idaho has chosen Community Action Partnership (CAP) as a Community Partner Organization for 2014. CAP will receive $100,000 in funding support to equip families and local children of Orchards Elementary School in Lewiston to reach their full potential.
Regence community partner organizations receive comprehensive assistance through financial grants, event support, board member involvement, featured placement in an annual employee giving campaign and employee volunteer support. This integrated assistance means Regence delivers more than dollars; they leave community partner organizations in a stronger position to continue fulfilling their missions for the future.
“Regence is committed to supporting local nonprofits like Community Action Partnership, who share our vision of building stronger, safer and healthier communities. We are proud to collaborate with CAP to help them serve families in Idaho with services and resources designed to help them build a brighter and more financially stable future for their children,” said Scott Kreiling, president of Regence BlueShield of Idaho.
“We are so excited about this contribution from Regence. The support will allow us to build an innovative two-generation approach to ending poverty in coordination with Orchards Elementary School. Because successes garnered from this model can be replicated in communities across CAP’s service area, it will be a game changer for CAP in our work to inspire and equip people in our communities to end poverty. We’re proud and thankful to be a Regence Community Partner Organization for 2014,” said Lisa Stoddard, executive director of Community Action Partnership.
Components of the project will build on Orchard Elementary’s “Leader in Me” initiative and include:
- Courses in Stephen Covey’s, “7 Habits for Highly Effective Families” for Orchards families,
- A summer Kindergarten Boot Camp to prepare incoming kindergartners for school,
- Bridges Out of Poverty Training Seminar and “Cost of Poverty Experience” poverty simulation for Orchards faculty and staff, and
- “Leadership Day” on Tuesday, May 13, inviting the entire community to see the transformational work that is taking place at Orchards Elementary.
CAP will work closely with participating families to help them set and obtain goals. From providing resources to meet basic needs like nutrition and transportation to job retention courses, income management lessons and savings education. Additionally, local CAP staff and community volunteers will provide friendship, encouragement, and connections for families as they work on achieving long-term goals and a brighter future for themselves.
