Top Idaho recipients include Northwest Children’s Home, Idaho Food bank, Twin County United Way and United Way of Treasure Valley

BOISE – Whether it’s feeding the hungry, engaging kids in healthy after-school activities or helping an abandoned pet find a new home, Regence employees are giving back to the communities where they live and work through the company’s annual employee giving campaign. In the recently completed 2012 campaign, employees from Regence BlueShield of Idaho and its affiliated companies in Oregon, Utah and Washington pledged charitable gifts of more than $1.2 million to nearly 1,550 nonprofits. In addition, a 50 percent match from Cambia Health Foundation brings the total to nearly $1.8 million that will go to support communities in the region and across the U.S.

Of that $1.8 million, about $155,000 will be directed to 99 Idaho nonprofits. Major recipients in Idaho include Northwest Children’s Home ($15, 200), The Idaho Food bank ($14,100), Twin County United Way ($8,800), United Way of Treasure Valley ($7,000), Boys and Girls Clubs of the Lewis Valley ($7,800), Lewis Clark Animal Shelter ($7,700) and Treasure Valley YMCA ($3,100).

“As a local company committed to serving our neighbors and members, Regence recognizes and supports the efforts  of the many nonprofit organizations who work tirelessly assisting those most in need,” said Scott Kreiling, Regence BlueShield of Idaho president. “Yet, I am most proud of the generosity of our more than 800Idaho employees during the employee giving campaign.  It is truly a reflection of their commitment to serving this community we’re all proud to call home.”

Regence’s employee giving campaign is an annual event where employees can donate to an eligible nonprofit of their choice, and Cambia Health Foundation matches those donations at 50 percent. Sixty-five percent of company employees participated in this year’s campaign (69 percent of Idaho employees participated), which is nearly three times the national average for employee giving.

Over the past five years of the giving campaign (including the match), employees at Regence-affiliated companies have donated more than $7.7 million to nonprofits across the nation.
