Walgreens Infusion Services (NYSE: WAG) (Nasdaq: WAG) and Regence, an affiliation of health care plans in the Pacific Northwest/Mountain State region, recently entered into an agreement to help lower overall medical costs for specialty infusion patients in Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

PeaceHealth and Regence reached a new two-year agreement. The contract ensures Regence members can continue to receive their care at PeaceHealth at in-network rates. The new contract begins July 1, 2013 resulting in no interruption of in-network coverage for Regence members.

According to unaudited figures filed March 1 with the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner, Regence BlueShield’s 483,271 fully insured members had medical claims totaling $1.78 billion in 2012, or $3,135 per member. Regence paid 82.7 cents of every premium dollar to pay those claims.
