Employees give back this holiday season

As we gather with friends and family to share a meal, swap cookies or exchange gifts during the holidays, it’s a good time to give back to help our neighbors in need. At Regence, we love this time of year because our company was founded over a century ago in the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor.
During the season of giving, teams across Regence come together to help their local communities. Toys, warm clothing, hygiene products and other items are collected across our four-state footprint to help meet the needs of our neighbors.

Every year in Portland, Oregon, Regence partners with the local news station, KGW, for the annual Great Toy Drive. Regence contributes by sponsoring the Great Toy Box and collecting toys and donations from employees, employer groups and local business partners. The Great Toy Drive collects thousands of toys and distributes them to over 150 local nonprofits, including Trillium Family Services, Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland and Raphael House.
At the Salt Lake City office, Regence employees wrapped presents for youth and families served by Friends of the Children Utah so that kids could have the magical experience of unwrapping a gift for themselves.
Through the Women's & Children's Alliance, our Network Management team in Boise, Idaho, sponsored a gift wish list to brighten the holidays for someone who has experienced domestic violence. A group in Medford, Oregon, raised funds for the Dunn House Shelter, which offers emergency shelter to people fleeing abusive situations. Regence employees also raised funds for Family Building Blocks to support their relief nursery and other free programs in Salem, Oregon, to keep children and families safe.

Other employee groups focused on collecting necessities to help people get through the cold winter months. During a holiday drive for the Tacoma Rescue Mission, Regence employees collected and donated 80 coats, 58 hats, 66 pairs of gloves, 146 pairs of underwear, 204 pairs of socks and 10 scarves. In Boise, a group of employees spent one morning assembling 100 hygiene kits for Boise Rescue Mission Ministries and writing letters to active-duty military members for Operation Gratitude.
Community care is an important part of our work at Regence all year. During the holidays, our employees give a little extra to help others. From toys to warm clothing, we celebrate our generous employees who bring a bit of comfort and joy to their neighbors.
