Regence friends and family return to in-person marches and community events to celebrate Pride 2022
It’s been two years since we last enjoyed in-person activities during Pride Month, a time to come together to honor and show support for our LGBTQ+ community. Regence team members and loved ones safely gathered for events across our four states, thanks to COVID vaccines, safety precautions and everyone doing their part to protect one another.
The month’s celebration is a reflection of the incredible leadership and energy of our PRIDE (Professionals Respecting Individuality, Diversity and Equality) employee resource group. In addition to organizing and attending events, these passionate team members work year-round to support and celebrate LGBTQ+ friends, family and neighbors. This includes hosting learning opportunities, both in person and virtual, as well as showcasing local LGBTQ+ nonprofits with volunteer and donation opportunities. Our corporate foundation matches eligible employee donations, which further increases the impact with more financial support.
Working to make health care more inclusive and personalized
At Regence, we believe everyone should have access to affordable, high-quality health care regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or disability. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people also face health disparities unique to the LGBTQ+ community, such as higher rates of depression or risks for certain types of cancers.
Regence members can learn more online about the ways we can help support LGBTQ+ care needs, including gender-affirming Customer Service, mental and behavioral health resources, and no-cost preventive care for most plans. As part of a long-term effort to update our tools for searching available health care providers, Regence has also updated approximately 50% of primary care and behavioral health providers with demographic information to help better serve our members’ unique needs. By the end of 2022, our goal is to update 80% of providers in our networks with this information.
