Regence BlueShield and Metro Parks Tacoma came together over the weekend for a rich and dynamic celebration of the diversity of cultures that make up the city of Tacoma. For the second year in a row, Regence was the presenting sponsor for the MOSAIC arts and culture festival, a vibrant community event that was founded nearly three decades ago.

Sights and sounds filled Wright Park, including performances highlighting traditional art forms from India, Cambodia, Thailand, Guam, Samoa, Tahiti and Hawaii; lucha libre wrestling from Mexico; and gospel music with a deep history in the Southern United States.

Regence was founded in Tacoma 106 years ago, and the company’s connection to the community remains strong.

“Regence and Tacoma have that shared history, and at Regence, we know firsthand that the heart of Tacoma is its people and its culture,” said Regence senior major account executive Eileen Walker in her opening remarks at MOSAIC. “That’s what makes the MOSAIC festival so special for us.”

Metro Parks Tacoma and Regence are longtime partners, on projects like the Mobile Teaching Kitchen, which was serving at MOSAIC and at a demonstration to city leaders from around the U.S. in Tacoma earlier this month. Other recent Regence-Metro Parks Tacoma projects include the event lawn at Dune Peninsula and the expansion of Dickman Mill Park.
