PORTLAND – The 16th annual Albertina Kerr Race for the Roses Half Marathon, 10K and 5K races will return to Portland on Sunday, April 19, 2015.
Regence BlueCross BlueShield is returning for the ninth time as the presenting sponsor of Race for the Roses. To launch this year’s partnership, Regence is offering a giveaway package that will be awarded to one of the first 200 registrants who sign up for any of the races here, as well as three runner up prizes. The “Get Fit Gift Pack” grand prize includes: a Fitbit wearable fitness tracker, a Nike gym bag, a Bowflex Body nutrition pack, and other assorted wellness prizes. Three runner ups will receive $50 gift certificates to FitRight NW. Entries must be complete by December 31, 2014 and the drawing will take place by January 6, 2015.
“Whether you’re a seasoned runner or social walker, Race for the Roses is a great opportunity to get out, be active and set goals towards achieving a healthier lifestyle," said Angela Dowling, President of Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon. "Giving back is part of Regence’s DNA, and we’re thrilled to renew our partnership with Albertina Kerr in support of this year’s Race for the Roses.”
Albertina Kerr’s Race for the Roses is one of the few races in Portland where all the net profits go to support a local non-profit. In addition to giving back to their community, racers enjoy a warm-dry staging area with great food, warm-ups, massage, expo and more; plus a tech t-shirt; a fast, accurate, scenic course; an event photo and a finisher’s rose.
“Albertina Kerr’s Race for the Roses is proud to partner with Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon to give racers the opportunity to take part in one of Portland’s best races while helping to support some of the most vulnerable in our community – children, families and adults with developmental and mental health challenges.” said Chris Krenk, CEO, Albertina Kerr.
