Regence is pleased to announce that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have ranked all 2020 Regence Medicare Advantage health plans with strong Star Ratings based on care quality and performance.

A measure of health plan quality, CMS Star Ratings* are based on more than 40 different performance indicators that evaluate care quality and member experience. These annual ratings, which range from 1 (low) to 5 (high), help educate Medicare Advantage consumers who are shopping for a plan, during the CMS Annual Election Period (Oct. 15 through Dec. 7) or when they become eligible for Medicare. CMS Star Ratings also provide data transparency and incentives to improve health outcomes and patient care quality. Achieving a rating of 4 stars or higher indicates that a health plan is performing above average compared to other health plans, as well as improving year over year in service to its members.

Each measure CMS uses for its Star Ratings aligns with one of five core areas—staying healthy with preventative screenings; managing chronic conditions; how members experience their health plan; customer service; and drug safety and pricing accuracy. Across all of its Medicare Advantage plans, Regence achieved high scores by providing high-quality customer service, reducing patient readmissions, and helping members manage chronic conditions.

For 2020, Regence earned 4 to 4.5 stars out of five (5) stars for all its Medicare Advantage plans:

  • Idaho – HMO 4 Stars, PPO 4 Stars
  • Oregon – HMO 4.5 Stars, PPO 4.5 Stars
  • Utah – PPO: 4.5 Stars
  • Washington – HMO 4 Stars, PPO – 4 Stars

“Regence’s 2020 Star Ratings reflect our relentless commitment to providing exceptional, cost-effective coverage to our Medicare members,” said Kathleen Faulk, Regence’s general manager of government programs. “Achieving these ratings means that 100% of Regence Medicare Advantage members next year will be enrolled in a high-quality, high-value health plan.”

Regence helped its Medicare members achieve improvements in several focus areas, including diabetes management and medication adherence. Working hard to provide its members with high-quality health benefits and coverage in 2020 and beyond, Regence will continue to invest in resources that improve member health and wellbeing across its Medicare Advantage plans.

“Members can select high-quality, cost-effective benefits and coverage tailored to different personal needs and budgets—all backed by Regence’s award-winning Customer Service team,” said Faulk. “Anyone who would like to learn more about our plans can visit regence.com/go/shop or call us at 1-844-REGENCE or 1-844-734-3623”
