SEATTLERegence BlueShield announced today that Rep. Eric Pettigrew, who serves Washington’s 37th legislative district, has joined the company as the director of community and business relations. His first day at Regence will be Monday, July 27.

Pettigrew to the Regence family,” said Jonathan Hensley, president of Regence BlueShield. “His background in public service and insurance will be invaluable as we work to strengthen our relationships with businesses and community groups, and create a dialogue about important issues such as health reform.”
 
In addition to his time in the Washington State Legislature, Pettigrew’s experience includes working as the director of community affairs for Safeco Insurance, deputy chief of staff for public safety with the Seattle mayor’s office, and president of the Rainier Chamber of Commerce. He earned his undergraduate degree from Oregon State University and his master's degree from the University of Washington.
 
Pettigrew’s community activities include serving on the boards of the Rainier Vista Boys and Girls Club and ACT Theatre, as well as coaching Little League baseball and basketball.
