ROSEBURG, Ore. – Mercy Medical Center and Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon today announced a new multi-year agreement, according to executives at both organizations. The new agreement, effective January 1, 2015, gives Regence plan members access to all local medical services provided by Mercy and its physicians under in-network rates through June of 2017.

“Mercy’s staff, including our physicians, nurses, and our support teams, work passionately everyday to provide local access to the best medical care for our patients,” said Kelly Morgan, CEO of Mercy Medical Center. “We appreciate the sustained support we received from all of our community, most especially those insured with Regence, and we are looking forward to the opportunity to continue to serve all of our community members’ healthcare needs.

“Today’s agreement ensures that Regence members will continue to access quality and affordable care at Mercy,” said Angela Dowling, President of Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon. “Regence is incredibly thankful to our members for your patience during this negotiation, and we’re pleased to move into the new year with an agreement that benefits Roseburg and Southern Oregon.”

Founded in 1909, Mercy has grown from its small beginnings over 100 years ago into a major regional state-of-the-art medical center that provides local services for Douglas County residents.  Today, more than 1,000 employees, including physicians, specialists, nurses and support staff make Mercy one of the country’s most highly rated hospitals in patient quality.
