Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah is launching an innovative employee health benefit solution called Regence Elect. It uniquely offers employers the simplicity of working exclusively with one health insurance company while providing access to a wide variety of health care providers and hospitals for their workforce. Regence Elect includes dual health plan options, FocalPoint and Preferred Blue Option. Employees can choose the plan that features their preferred provider network. Regence’s newest health plan also includes global medical coverage via the BlueCard® Program.

Currently, employers who want to provide access to the Intermountain Healthcare provider network and other hospital systems in Utah have limited options. They either pay a premium price to offer multiple networks, or they work with two insurance companies to provide health plan choices, which adds complexity and inefficiency.
In response, Regence collaborated with Intermountain Healthcare to deploy the Preferred Blue Option network option within its newly developed Regence Elect health plan. Utah employers can now give employees the option to select the provider network of their choice – at a more-affordable price.
Employees who select Preferred Blue Option will have access to all Intermountain Healthcare hospitals and clinics as well as multiple rural facilities and more than 14,000 health care providers statewide. Those that choose FocalPoint will benefit from its newly expanded statewide network, which includes 25 MountainStar and University of Utah hospitals, multiple rural facilities, and over 11,000 providers.
Regence Elect is an innovative new employee benefits solution for employers with 51 to 100-plus employees. It is available for fully insured employers and self-funded employers, with employee coverage effective in January 2022.
