BOISE, Idaho – Regence BlueShield of Idaho President Sean Robbins has been tapped to serve as Executive Vice President of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), the national federation of 35 independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies that collectively provide health care coverage for one in three Americans.

In that new position, Robbins will lead external affairs including BCBSA’s advocacy work under the Office of Policy and Representation, Marketing and Brand Strategy, and External Communications. He’ll continue as Idaho market president through April 30.

“We’re excited for Sean and his opportunity to have a nationwide impact on making health care better for people and their families,” said Regence BlueShield of Idaho Board Chairman Dr. Jeff Fox. “While we will miss his energy, we have faith in our exceptional leadership team. That team strength, the financial stability of the company and the collaborative provider partnerships we’ve worked so hard to build will ensure continued success through the coming leadership transition and beyond.”

In his new role, Robbins will report directly to BCBSA President and CEO Kim Keck. He and his family will continue living in Boise while he splits time managing teams based in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
