Health plan is only company in state this year to achieve designation
PORTLAND, Ore. - Regence earned a “gold” rating for its employee wellness program from the Wellness Councils of America (Welcoa). Well Workplace awards recognize excellence in wellness programs at America’s healthiest companies, for fully embracing responsibility to maximize the health and well-being of employees.
Welcoa’s designation indicates companies where employee wellness is part of the fabric and overall business strategy.
“Regence employees should be ambassadors of wellness,” said Mark Ganz, President and CEO of The Regence Group. “We should walk the talk. That’s been our focus for seven years now. As a result, our employees are better equipped to help our members and communities to be healthy.”
The rigorous application process requires companies to verify not only participation but results, and document an environment that promotes and supports wellness.
“We purposely constructed a program that fosters individual responsibility,” said program director Amy Walloch. “Our wellness program is built around engagement, accountability, simplicity, transparency and reward, qualities we believe should characterize the health care system.”
The Welcoa designation applies to all Regence operations in Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Washington. Regence is among the largest companies in the nation to achieve this designation, and the only company in these four states to receive Welcoa recognition this year.
Application highlights:
Regence score - 178.54 out of 180 points in first-time application, meeting Welcoa’s criteria in these categories:
