PORTLAND, Ore. – This week, the Umpqua Bank Challenge announced it is donating $100,000 to two local nonprofits: Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel and the “I Have a Dream” Foundation. This donation comes from money raised at the 2012 Umpqua Bank Challenge and Regence Pro-Am golf tournaments, as well as support from event sponsors.
Because of this generous donation, the Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel has a warm and welcoming new conference and resource room for families with sick children, and the “I Have a Dream” Foundation is helping 180 low income students successfully make the transition from elementary to middle school.
“This is great news. Regence is proud to be a part of the Umpqua Bank Challenge and support these two nonprofits,” said Don Antonucci, president of tournament sponsor Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon. “More than just a golf tournament, the Umpqua Bank Challenge has become an opportunity to come together to celebrate our community and give back to two deserving charities. It’s events like these that help make Portland such a great place to live, work and play.”
The 2012 Umpqua Bank Challenge was a three-day golf tournament that included the Regence Pro-Am and a competition with PGA Tour professionals. The tournament was hosted by Portland-native and professional golfer, Peter Jacobson, and sponsored by Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon.
