AM Best reaffirms strong financial position across Regence health plans
AM Best, the world's oldest and most authoritative insurance rating and information source, has upgraded Regence BlueShield of Idaho to an "A" (Excellent) Financial Strength Rating (FSR) and "a" Issuer Credit Rating (ICR), moving up from the previous "A-" and "a-" ratings, respectively.
The rating agency simultaneously reaffirmed "A" (Excellent) FSR and "a" ICR for Regence’s health plans across Oregon, Utah and Washington. All ratings maintain a "stable" outlook, reflecting the organization's continued financial resilience.
"These ratings validate our unwavering dedication to financial stewardship and operational excellence," said Mike Rains, chief financial officer, Regence health plans. "The upgrade in Idaho and continued strong ratings across our markets demonstrate our ability to maintain financial stability while delivering the high-quality, affordable health care coverage that our members rely on."
AM Best highlighted several factors supporting these strong ratings including balance sheet strength across the health plans, consistent net earnings over the last five years, appropriate enterprise risk management, and significant market presence and Regence brand recognition.
