With Regence’s commitment to improving access and outcomes, more members than ever are getting the behavioral health care they deserve
He couldn’t stop drinking and worried it was affecting his job. Her eating disorder kept her from living a regular teenage life.
These Regence members and many others over the last two years got the treatment they needed from proven, high-quality doctors, therapists, programs and more—both virtually and in-person—within our health care network.
“At Regence, we believe mental health is health,” says Mike Franz, M.D., executive medical director for behavioral health at Regence and a practicing, board-certified psychiatrist.
Connecting you to care, quickly
In fact, Regence nearly doubled the number of behavioral health providers in our network since 2021, adding more than 26,000 net new providers to meet the demand for mental health care in Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Washington and beyond.
“Regence puts its money where its mouth is,” says Dr. Franz. “We’re aligning our provider reimbursements with competitive compensation to attract and retain high-quality clinicians across our regions and across a variety of services.”
When you need mental health care, you can’t wait months to see a doctor. “95% percent of our members can get seen by our virtual-forward providers within seven days of their request, many of them within 24 to 48 hours,” adds Dr. Franz.
That expansion and our new virtual options have yielded a 31% reduction in the number of members with behavioral health conditions who were going untreated.
Treatments that work
On top of that, Regence ensures the care you receive is effective—we reward providers who meet rigorous measures and deliver treatments that work so you’re getting the right care and your premium dollars are well spent.
Our experienced customer service professionals are trained to provide knowledgeable, compassionate support on the phone to members with behavioral health conditions. And our care managers offer specialized clinical support, using their insiders’ knowledge of health systems to connect you to the care and resources you need.
Though the national shortage of behavioral health providers persists, Regence is jumping in. The Cambia Health Foundation, Regence’s philanthropic arm, has invested more than $5.5 million to increase the number of qualified behavioral health providers in our communities.
“It’s OK to ask for help, and it’s OK to get help,” says Dr. Franz.
We’ve got your back. That’s the Regence difference.
