Balancing care and costs
Your health and your health care dollars are precious. As a nonprofit health plan, our member premiums reflect what we expect care to cost.
Hospitals are the largest driver of U.S. health care spending, charging health plans more than two times what they charge Medicare for the same services.
Providers are requesting unprecedented, double-digit rate increases, as much as 50-75% over three years.
Prices on more than 1,200 prescription drugs rose an average of 31.6 percent in one year.
Breaking down your health-care dollar
Aligned with our values as a tax-paying nonprofit, 85 percent of every premium dollar pays for our members’ medical claims and expenses. That includes doctor visits, hospital care, medications, and other health care goods and services. In 2022 alone, Regence paid $5.52 billion in medical care for our fully insured members.
